The Board of Directors of the Sharjah Research and Technology Park adopts a strategy to attract global innovation investments

Sharjah, May 21 / WAM / Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, chaired the sixth meeting of the Park’s Board of Directors, which discussed a set of strategies and initiatives aimed at strengthening Sharjah’s position as a regional and global center for innovation, advanced technology, and an economy based on knowledge, research and development.

During the meeting, which was held at the new aircraft maintenance facilities of Air Arabia at Sharjah International Airport, hosted by Air Arabia, a member of the complex’s board of directors, and in the presence of council members, the council reviewed the latest developments in the complex’s system and the operational progress achieved, in addition to the strategic plans aimed at attracting more international companies specialized in technology and innovation, and enhancing the supportive environment for investors, entrepreneurs, startups, and research institutions.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi stressed the importance of consolidating cooperation between government agencies, academic institutions and the private sector, which contributes to accelerating the pace of innovation and creating sustainable economic opportunities with a tangible impact, pointing to the pivotal role that the complex continues to play in supporting future industries and empowering innovators through international partnerships and an integrated system for research and development.

For his part, His Excellency Hussein Al Mahmoudi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, reviewed the most prominent existing projects and priorities for the next stage, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, sustainability, advanced manufacturing, innovation in the health care sector, and digital transformation.

The Council discussed the progress made within four main axes, including sustainability and environmental technologies, health care and life sciences, mobility and logistics services, advanced manufacturing and digital transformation, in addition to examining opportunities to accelerate the transformation of innovations into commercial applications and enhance cooperation between startups and major industrial companies.

Council members were also briefed on developments in innovation infrastructure projects and initiatives to develop the complex’s system, including expanding initial modeling capabilities, supporting industrial innovation, and enhancing Sharjah’s competitiveness as a destination for future investments and entrepreneurship.

The Council stressed that sustainability represents a major strategic focus of the complex’s work during the year 2026, through the launch of specialized initiatives, programs and events that support sustainable innovation and solutions with a long-term environmental and economic impact.

The meeting highlighted the growing presence of the complex on the international scene through strategic partnerships and participation in global events and cooperative programmes, thus enhancing Sharjah’s position as a gateway linking regional and global innovation systems.

The meeting was held in the new aircraft maintenance facilities of Air Arabia and reflected the level of cooperation between the complex and the leading national institutions in supporting innovation, advanced industries, and future economic sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park continues to enhance its role as a catalyst for innovation and sustainable development, by building an integrated system that brings together the academic and governmental sectors, the industrial sector and entrepreneurs to transform ideas into innovative solutions with a global impact.
