She was met by the Serbian President, Amna Al-Dahhak, in Belgrade, discussing cooperation in the sectors of food security and sustainable development

DUBAI, 23rd May / WAM / His Excellency Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia, received at the “Serbia Palace” in the capital, Belgrade, Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, to discuss ways of strategic cooperation aimed at strengthening the sustainable food security system, within the framework of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement signed between the UAE and the Republic of Serbia.
This came during an official visit made by Her Excellency to the Republic of Serbia at the head of an Emirati delegation that included a group of officials and representatives of the public and private sectors, with the aim of strengthening the bilateral partnership in the fields of food security and sustainable agriculture and advancing joint economic development.
The discussions focused on ways to enhance joint cooperation in the sectors of food security, agriculture, and sustainable development, and building flexible food systems that support the goals of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries, in addition to praising the achievements of Emirati companies investing in Serbia and looking forward to expanding cooperation in vital sectors, including livestock.
Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak said that consolidating the sustainability of the food security system and enhancing its flexibility today represents one of the strategic pillars of the comprehensive economic partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Serbia, expressing her aspiration, through this ambitious step, to formulate a pioneering model of international cooperation that combines political visions with investment and commercial capabilities, and to transform them into concrete projects on the ground that bring together the government and private sectors, ensuring the building of strong supply chains that serve the common vital interests of the two countries.
Her Excellency added: The UAE adopts a proactive approach that places innovation and modern agricultural technologies at the forefront of sustainable solutions to meet the food challenges of the future. From this standpoint, we look forward to advancing cooperation horizons and expanding areas of joint work with the Serbian side, especially in development research, seed development technology, water resources management in the agricultural sector and the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices, which contributes to building flexible and sustainable food systems capable of meeting food security requirements and achieving continued prosperity for our people.
The UAE delegation included officials from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and directors of senior food and agricultural entities and companies, including His Excellency Dhafer Al Qasimi, CEO of Sellal Group, Hassan Halawi, CEO of Elite Agro Holding Group, and representatives of Agthia Group, while the delegation was accompanied by His Excellency Ahmed Hatem Barghash Al Menhali, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia.
The visit reviewed the process of Emirati-Serbian investment cooperation in the agricultural sector, as the investments of the “Al Dahra” and “Al Rawafed” companies, affiliated with the “Elite Agro” group, represent a model of sustainable partnership on agricultural areas exceeding 600,000 hectares, while the “Salal” group stressed the importance of partnership with Serbian producers within the country’s food security system.
Her Excellency the Minister held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Dr. Dragan Jelamočić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia, during which they discussed cooperation in the fields of food security, sustainable agriculture, advanced agricultural technology, livestock, water resources management, and agricultural trade development between the two countries, in addition to discussing the importance of the “United Nations Water Conference 2026,” which is hosted by the UAE.
Her Excellency also met with His Excellency Marko Čadiz, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the two sides discussed developing direct trade partnerships and enhancing digital logistics integration in agricultural value chains.
Her Excellency Dr. Amna Al Dahak attended the Serbia Business Summit 2026, which discussed the future of economic cooperation and climate policy, and witnessed the participation of Emirati businessman Mohammed Al Abbar, founder of Emaar Group, who confirmed that Belgrade has proven its position as a center for business and innovation, pointing to the transformations led by artificial intelligence in the business and employment sectors.
Her Excellency witnessed the opening of the 93rd International Agricultural Exhibition in the Serbian city of Novi Sad, which is one of the most prominent specialized agricultural exhibitions in the Southeastern European region, with the participation of more than 1,200 exhibitors from about 40 countries to showcase the latest innovations in agricultural technologies, food production and sustainable agriculture.
The visit program included field tours in a number of agricultural and research centers in Serbia, including the “Zubnatica Agricultural Center” and the “Agrosava” Company, where Her Excellency was briefed on advanced experiences in developing seeds, agricultural research, and crop production techniques, and discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in the fields of agricultural innovation, exchange of experiences, and application of sustainable agricultural practices.
