Mohammed bin Rashid Library celebrates "Emirati Writer’s Day" It emphasizes the role of creative people in enriching the cultural scene

Dubai, May 23 / WAM / The Mohammed bin Rashid Library celebrated “Emirati Writer’s Day” by organizing an expanded cultural celebration, in cooperation with a number of cultural and national institutions and with the participation of an elite group of Emirati writers, writers, researchers and creators, as part of its continuing efforts to support the Emirati writer and enhance his effective role in enriching the cultural and knowledge scene at the local and Arab levels.

His Excellency Mohammed Ahmed Al Murr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, stressed that the Emirati writer has become an essential partner in consolidating the national identity and enhancing the cultural presence of the UAE on the Arab and global levels, stressing the necessity of investing in new generations of creators and writers by providing spaces that enable them to express, develop and experiment, in a way that ensures the sustainability of the cultural movement and the renewal of its tools. He pointed out at the same time that the rapid digital transformations increase the importance of the role of the writer and intellectual in protecting meaning. Consolidating critical thinking and human values.

Ibrahim Al Hashemi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library Foundation, pointed out the Foundation’s full commitment to supporting writers and creators and enhancing their prominent presence in the cultural scene, by launching specific initiatives and programs that provide an integrated cultural environment that embraces Emirati talent and contributes effectively to the development of the literary and creative movement in the country.

The celebration witnessed the presentation of an integrated program that included dialogue sessions, workshops, cultural and artistic exhibitions, and interactive meetings, topped by a session entitled “Caring for the Writer… A Model for Creative Writing Qalam Program” in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, and a session on “The Future of Emirati Literature,” in addition to a session on “Theatrical Writing between Idea and Performance” in cooperation with the Dubai National Theater.

The events also included parties to sign and discuss the latest Emirati publications, honoring the winners of the Ghanem Ghobash Short Story Award, in addition to organizing specialized artistic and cultural workshops and exhibitions of Arabic calligraphy, manuscripts and local publications, which reflected the vitality of the Emirati cultural scene and the diversity of its creative experiences.
