About a movie "Fjord".. Munggio wins the second Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival

The jury of the 79th session awarded Saturday, for a movie "Fjord" By Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, thus winning his second Palme d’Or after the one he won in 2007 for his film "Four months, three weeks and two days".
It deals with "Fjord" Abuse committed in the name of progressive principles, through the story of a religious evangelical family whose children are taken from them by Norwegian child welfare services. The film is inspired by a true story.

The 58-year-old director said: "Societies are divided and extremist, and this film is a commitment against all forms of fundamentalism"
Mongiu, who on Saturday became the tenth film director to win two Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, told AFP: "Expectations should be much higher for a progressive society that considers it has found the right answers for the future and always sees itself as superior".
His work outperformed another film that was also a strong candidate to win the Palme d’Or, which is "Minotaur" Which depicts Russian society through the analysis of a family drama against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine.
The film’s director, exiled Russian Andrey Zvyagintsev, won the grand prize, and challenged President Vladimir Putin directly on the stage of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes and said: "The only person who can put an end to this massacre (in Ukraine) is the President of the Russian Federation. Stop this massacre, the whole world is waiting for it"
Double Awards
As for acting, the jury headed by South Korean director Park Chan-wook surprised everyone by awarding the award to two actors who are the leads of the film "Coward" By Belgian director Lukas Dhont, which tells the story of soldiers on the battlefields of World War I.
The same was the case for the female award for the Best Actress category, as the jury also chose a pair, and awarded it to the Belgian star Virginie Efira and the Japanese actress Tao Okamoto for their roles in the film "Sudan" Directed by Ryosuke Hamaguchi, it is a sad account of a retirement home in France.
The film won "Notre Salo" (Notre Salut) by French director Emmanuel Marie won the Best Screenplay Award.
The absence of huge Hollywood films
The South Korean film was "Hope" ("Hope") which was chosen to participate in the official competition, sparked a wave of enthusiasm at the festival.
