Trump said on the “Truth Social” platform that the agents acted quickly and with great professionalism in dealing with the gunman, who he indicated had a violent record and a possible obsession with the White House, stressing that the gunman died following an exchange of fire with Secret Service members near the building’s gates.

The President noted that this incident comes about a month after the shooting incident during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, stressing that these events highlight the urgent need to provide the highest levels of protection for all future presidents, and that national security requires this.
