The United Nations condemns an attack on a train in Pakistan

A press statement issued by members of the Security Council referred to the Balochistan Liberation Army’s announcement that the Majeed Battalion was the one that carried out the attack.
The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations represents one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. They stressed the need to hold the perpetrators, organisers, financiers and supporters of these shameful terrorist acts accountable and bring them to justice.
They urged all countries to cooperate effectively with the Government of Pakistan in this regard, in accordance with the obligations of countries in accordance with international law and relevant Security Council resolutions.
The members stressed that any terrorist acts are unjustified crimes, regardless of their motives, the place and timing of their occurrence, and the identity of their perpetrators.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres strongly condemned the explosion that targeted the train. He offered his deep condolences to the families of the dead and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
United Nations spokesman Stephane Dujarric issued a press statement in which he conveyed the Secretary-General’s reaffirmation that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is rejected. Guterres also stressed the need to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
The Secretary-General affirmed the solidarity of the United Nations with the people and government of Pakistan.
