Dubai Culture organizes 33 workshops on the Torch Tree during June to promote sustainability

Dubai, 1st June / WAM / Dubai Culture and Arts Authority “Dubai Culture” continues to enhance the presence of the torch tree in the cultural and societal scene through the “Schools of Life” project, in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai, to intensify planting of the tree in streets, homes, recreational spaces and public parks in the emirate.

During the month of June, the authority is organizing about 33 creative workshops and sessions inspired by the torch tree, known for its broad branches, green leaves, and orange flowers, which usually blooms in May of each year as part of the “Schools of Life” club programs that support the quality of life strategy in Dubai and contribute to enabling community members to acquire new cultural and life skills within an innovative educational and interactive environment.

Al Safa Arts and Design Library hosts a group of specialized activities, the most prominent of which is the “Plant the Torch Tree” workshop in cooperation with Dubai Municipality, with the aim of spreading awareness of the importance of sustainability and environmental care, in addition to workshops in the art of distilled coffee, making comic books, acrylic drawing, and making handmade soap inspired by the colors and scents of summer.

While the Rashidiya Library hosts workshops on designing pottery toys, making incense burners, and embroidery on bags, while the Mankhool Library offers the “Art of Paper Quilling” workshop inspired by nature and colorful decorations.

Within the framework of the Health and Nutrition Club, Al Jalila Center for Children’s Culture and Hatta Public Library organize specialized workshops, including “Summer Salads,” “Cupcake Decorating,” and “Emirati Foala,” with the aim of introducing children to Emirati food customs and heritage.

The agenda also includes various linguistic and musical activities, including the “Arabic Language in Nature: Summer Kitchen” workshop and the “Choral in Arabic: Welcome Summer” workshop, which enhances the creative expression, communication and teamwork skills of the participants and confirms the role of Dubai Public Libraries as vital platforms for learning and exchanging experiences.
