DUBAI, 2nd June, 2018 (WAM) – The Dubai World Trade Center Free Zone announced the conclusion of a strategic partnership with DHL Express, the leading global provider of international logistics services, in a step that reflects its commitment to developing an integrated business system that enables small and medium-sized companies to grow, expand and compete on a global level.

According to a press release issued today, the partnership aims to provide practical and high-impact support to small and medium-sized companies operating within the free zone, with a focus on enhancing the companies’ capabilities, raising their operational flexibility, and enabling their access to global markets.

In addition to offering preferential prices to companies operating within the free zone, the core of this cooperation is based on DHL’s GoTrade programme, which is a global initiative aimed at supporting small and medium-sized companies through capacity building and knowledge transfer.

The program will provide structured training that supports companies’ readiness to export, enabling them to acquire the tools and insights necessary to deal with cross-border trade and expand internationally.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Abdullah Al Banna, Vice President of Regulatory Operations for the Free Zone at the Dubai World Trade Centre, and Mahmoud Haj Hussein, General Manager of DHL Express Emirates, at the DHL Express Emirates office in Dubai.

Abdullah Al-Banna said: The small and medium enterprises sector in Dubai is an essential driver of economic growth and a major pillar of Dubai’s economic agenda. The Dubai World Trade Center Free Zone focuses on enabling companies to expand globally by providing the appropriate infrastructure, communication networks, and necessary expertise. Through the partnership with DHL Express, we provide a valuable practical resource to our system through the GoTrade program, which provides companies with the necessary practical skills and capabilities in the field of international trade. This enables it to accelerate its global expansion plans.

He stressed that this cooperation reflects their continued commitment to providing a competitive business system, where companies can grow, innovate and contribute to supporting Dubai’s long-term economic vision.

The free zone will provide access to the GoTrade program to companies operating within its regulatory scope, which includes more than 2,500 companies from more than 40 sectors, operating within the most prominent commercial locations in the central business district of Dubai.

This cooperation provides a practical and direct advantage to companies, enabling them to obtain free training provided by experts through a reliable global partner in the logistics and trade sectors, without any requirements to join.

Mahmoud Haj Hussein said that access to international trade has never been easier than it is today, but many small and medium-sized companies still face challenges and complications when expanding into global markets, pointing out that DHL Express helps companies access global opportunities through its vast international network and specialized expertise in global trade.

He added that the company, through the GoTrade programme, is working to provide entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized companies with practical knowledge in key areas including international shipping, customs, e-commerce, and cross-border operations, enabling them to build the confidence and capabilities necessary to compete and achieve growth at the international level.

He pointed out that cooperation with the Dubai World Trade Center Free Zone reflects a joint commitment to developing a business system that enables ambitious companies to expand across borders.

The GoTrade program offers an integrated training curriculum consisting of 14 interactive modules for SMEs, providing tailored guidance in key areas including: logistics operations, international trade frameworks, e-commerce, customs procedures, customer experience and financial planning.

The cooperation framework establishes a basis for knowledge exchange and continuous interaction between the Dubai World Trade Center Free Zone and DHL, allowing the continued development of initiatives and programs directed at supporting small and medium enterprises.

The cooperation with DHL is the latest in a series of partnerships that aim to enhance added value and develop the Dubai World Trade Center Free Zone system, which aims to support entrepreneurs, startups, and existing companies within the free zone.

The Dubai World Trade Center Free Zone offers a range of competitive advantages, including 100% foreign ownership and exemption from personal income tax, with more than 1,200 licensed commercial activities.
