The Norwegian Federation calls on FIFA to investigate the Trump Peace Prize

The Norwegian Football Association on Tuesday asked the Ethics Committee of its international counterpart (FIFA) to investigate the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump by the highest administrative body.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino awarded Trump the first edition of the Peace Prize during the 2026 World Cup drawing ceremony, which was held on December 6.
Later that month, the rights group FairSquare filed a complaint with FIFA’s ethics committee, claiming that Infantino had breached his duty of impartiality by supporting Trump.
FIFA never revealed how it awarded him the Peace Prize, which came at a time when Trump and his administration were repeatedly pressing to award him the Nobel Peace Prize.
Lise Klavenes, president of the Norwegian Federation, said that they acted unilaterally in approaching the Ethics Committee. “I think the other federations knew that they could sign if they wanted.”
She continued, “We concluded that it is useless to put pressure on any party, as this will only lead to creating tensions.”
Infantino has publicly sought to strengthen his relations with Trump ahead of the start of the World Cup, which will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
