المملكة: Two robotic surgeries in one day… saving two pilgrims from complex heart blockages

This success came through the use of advanced robotic heart surgery technology in one day, within the framework of the urgent care model with the latest systems of the Saudi health care model provided to the guests of God during the Hajj season 1447 AH.

The medical team explained that the first case belonged to a Nigerian pilgrim. He was received suffering from late myocardial infarction with chronic and complex blockages in the coronary arteries, which led to a decrease in the efficiency of the heart muscle to between 35% and 40%.

On the other hand, the second case arrived in a pilgrim from Uzbekistan after he suffered a severe heart attack accompanied by severe pulmonary edema and severe weakness in the heart muscle. Its efficiency decreased to between 30% and 35%.

After the urgent and immediate evaluation of the two cases by the multidisciplinary heart team, the doctors made the decision to perform a qualitative and precise intervention using robotic heart surgery.

High surgical precision

The team succeeded in performing two coronary bypass operations for the two patients on the same day using the advanced surgical robot, which provided extremely high surgical precision, and contributed to reducing the size of traditional surgical intervention, as well as accelerating the recovery phase and improving the therapeutic results for the two patients.

The two delicate operations were successful. The two pilgrims regained full cardiac and respiratory stability and gradually left the danger stage to recover.
