"Emirates Franchise": The commercial franchising sector is a major pillar of economic growth
ABU DHABI, 5 JUNE / WAM / His Excellency Ali Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber and Chairman of the Emirates Franchise Association, confirmed that the commercial franchising sector is one of the vital sectors that support the global economy and includes more than two million companies around the world that provide more than 19 million job opportunities, which reflects its important role in promoting economic growth and enabling entrepreneurs to expand locally and internationally.
Al Marzouqi explained in a statement today that the sector is witnessing remarkable growth in the UAE, with the increasing interest of international brands in making the country a center for expansion, benefiting from a flexible and advanced investment environment, and diversity in economic sectors such as industry, tourism, education, and health, in addition to the retail and hospitality sectors.
He pointed out that the Emirates Franchise Association is working to support this sector as it is an important tributary to enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy, empowering small and medium-sized companies, and providing quality investment opportunities, in addition to spreading the culture of business excellence and expanding international partnerships.
He added that the Association is keen to enhance the UAE’s presence in international forums, exchange experiences and best practices, and support the expansion of national companies through modern franchising models, while continuing to build global strategic partnerships as it has been a member of the World Franchise Council since 2017.
The commercial franchising sector in the UAE benefits from a developed investment environment that has strengthened the country’s position as one of the most prominent global destinations for investment and support of entrepreneurship.
The UAE achieved first place in the world in 2024 in developing the entrepreneurship system, confirming its position as the economy that most supports entrepreneurship and is still considered the first and preferred destination for establishing projects and commercial activities.
This achievement reflects the country’s efforts to diversify its economy, especially in the non-oil sectors, in addition to integrated policies that provided a stimulating environment for entrepreneurship and contributed to accelerating the growth of small and medium-sized companies and emerging projects, which is strongly supported by the commercial franchising sector.
On a related level, the Emirates Franchise Association, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Chamber, participated in the meetings of the World Franchise Council, which were held in Beijing as part of the annual meeting of the World Franchise Federation, with the participation of representatives from 47 countries and an elite group of business leaders and investors concerned with commercial franchising.
On the sidelines of the events, the association participated in the Chinese Franchise and Chain Store Association conference, and its delegation visited the China Franchise Exhibition, which is considered one of the largest specialized exhibitions in the sector, with the participation of thousands of brands and more than 70 economic sectors.
The association also organized the visit of 10 Emirati companies to the events, with the aim of supporting their expansion and linking them with global partnership opportunities, enhancing the presence of Emirati brands in international franchise markets, and benefiting from best practices in developing this vital sector.
