The Japanese economy grew by 0.5% during the first quarter

Tokyo, June 8, 2026: Japan’s economy achieved growth of 0.5% on a quarterly basis during the first quarter of 2026, according to what the Japanese Government Office announced on Monday.
The office stated that Japan’s economy recorded an annual growth rate of 1.8% during the first quarter, while capital spending in Japan declined by 0.7% on a quarterly basis during the first three months of this year.
The growth rate of external demand for Japanese production during the first quarter stabilized at its level during the last quarter of last year, which was 0.3%, while it recorded
Private consumption grew at the same rate during the first quarter.
