المملكة: With 200 thousand vehicles per day…a project to expand the lanes of the Taif Road in Riyadh
Today, Monday, the Royal Commission for the City of Riyadh began implementing two new bridges as part of the Taif Road development project and expanding its lanes by 15 kilometers, to raise its capacity to 200,000 vehicles per day and facilitate Traffic movement.
Improving traffic flow
The authority explained that the construction work aims to develop the two main intersections with the Najd and Asir roads through an integrated system of bridges And the updated paths.
It indicated that this step will contribute directly to improving the flow of movement and reducing traffic conflict points on this important vital axis.
It pointed out that the project will enhance the strategic link between the city of Qiddiya on the western side, and the Ring Road and Jeddah Road on the east.
The authority confirmed that this axial link will lead to a noticeable shortening of the time Daily trips for road users.
Coordination of field works
In conjunction with the actual launch of field works, the competent authorities activated a comprehensive plan to manage traffic movement to ensure the safety of pedestrians and the continued smooth flow of movement.
It indicated its continuous coordination with the concerned authorities to provide periodic information about traffic diversions, in addition to updating the digital systems and applications designated to guide drivers.
This move falls within a broader program to develop the axes of ring and main roads. In the city of Riyadh.
The program includes implementing and developing a road network exceeding 500 kilometers in length, with the aim of building an integrated and sustainable urban transportation system that meets the goals of quality of life in the capital.
