Fujairah Research Center consolidates its efforts in protecting the oceans and sustaining the marine environment

Fujairah, June 9 / WAM / The Fujairah Research Center has confirmed that protecting the seas and oceans is no longer just an environmental option, but has become a shared scientific, developmental and humanitarian responsibility.

Dr. Fouad Lamghari Radwan, Director of the Fujairah Research Center, said in a special statement on the occasion of World Oceans Day that the Center works, through its research and field programs, to support the UAE’s efforts to protect the marine environment and enhance the sustainability of coral reefs and coastal habitats, in line with the national vision for achieving environmental sustainability.

He added that the Fujairah Research Center continues to consolidate its scientific and environmental role in protecting the oceans and sustaining the marine environment, in conjunction with World Oceans Day, which constitutes an international occasion to renew the commitment to protecting marine systems, preserving biodiversity, and enhancing awareness of the importance of the oceans in achieving environmental balance and supporting life on planet Earth.

He pointed out that the Center’s interest in the marine environment stems from the strategic location of the Emirate of Fujairah on the eastern coast of the UAE, and its rich marine diversity, which enhances the importance of studies and research programs specialized in monitoring the marine environment, protecting coral reefs, preserving marine organisms, and supporting the sustainability of natural resources.

He pointed out that the center is keen to employ modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and advanced monitoring tools to monitor the health of the marine environment, analyze data, and monitor changes occurring in marine systems, which contributes to building an accurate knowledge base that supports decision makers and competent authorities in developing scientific solutions to protect marine resources.
