Reem Al Hashemi affirms the UAE’s steadfastness and resilience in the face of treacherous Iranian attacks

Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, met with the Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of the Kingdom of Sweden, Benjamin Dossa, during her official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden, headed by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairwoman of the Culture and Arts Authority in Dubai.

During the meeting, the two ministers emphasized the growing and close partnership between the UAE and the Kingdom of Sweden, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, in light of a shared commitment to promoting comprehensive economic growth, advancing the process of humanitarian work, and raising the level of multilateral cooperation.

Dossa affirmed the Kingdom of Sweden’s condemnation of the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE, stressing the importance of regional stability, ensuring the security of navigation in international waterways, and respecting international law.

Reem Al Hashemi stressed the steadfastness and resilience shown by the UAE in the face of the treacherous Iranian attacks. She also reviewed the close partnership between the UAE and the Kingdom of Sweden, expressing her deep appreciation for the support shown by the Kingdom of Sweden, which reflects the depth of relations and the mutual trust and solid friendship between the two countries.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange views on a number of regional and international developments, especially the situation in Ukraine, in light of the recent visit by the President of the Republic of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to the UAE, and the country’s continuing efforts in support of peace and diplomatic endeavors.

In this context, Reem Al Hashemi highlighted the success of the recent UAE mediation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Ukraine, which included the completion of a new exchange process that included 185 prisoners from the Russian side and 185 prisoners from the Ukrainian side, bringing the total number of prisoners exchanged to 7,471 prisoners.

The two sides also discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the ongoing developments in Syria and Sudan, stressing the importance of reaching political solutions and maintaining the momentum of humanitarian work in the face of regional challenges.

On the economic level, the two ministers discussed ways to enhance trade and investment relations between the UAE and Sweden, including prospects for advancing the negotiations of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and the European Union. The Kingdom of Sweden welcomed the efforts aimed at deepening economic cooperation and opening new horizons for businesses and investors in both countries.

Reem Al Hashemi welcomed the support of the Kingdom of Sweden, stressing the UAE’s commitment to expanding its network of strategic partnerships, deepening cooperation with European partners, and supporting and accelerating the pace of achievement in the negotiations of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and the European Union.

Reem Al Hashemi stressed that strengthening economic cooperation will strengthen the bonds of mutual cooperation, achieve prosperity for both parties, strengthen supply chains, stimulate innovation, and create sustainable job opportunities, leading to lasting benefits for societies, economies and future generations.
