The UAE and NATO are discussing ways to strengthen the partnership

Lana Nusseibeh, Minister of State, received Javier Colomina, Deputy Assistant Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for Political Affairs and Security Policy and Special Representative of the Secretary-General of NATO for the Southern Neighborhood Countries.
Kolomina’s visit to the UAE follows the fruitful phone call that took place last March between His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and Mark Rutte, Secretary General of NATO, in addition to a series of discussions held between senior officials of the UAE and NATO to discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the two sides.
During their meeting in Abu Dhabi, Nusseibeh and Colomina reviewed the rapid geopolitical developments in Europe and the Middle East, and stressed the mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in a way that contributes to consolidating the flexibility and sustainability of supply chains in the defense sector with trusted partners, enhancing operational integration, and examining new horizons for cooperation between the two sides.
Nusseibeh stressed the UAE’s solid record of cooperation with NATO, which is evident in continuous cooperation in the areas of training, in addition to the country’s contribution to a number of operations led by the alliance in various regions. It also affirmed the UAE’s commitment to constructive international partnerships that contribute to enhancing security and stability at the regional and international levels.
The two sides agreed to continue their constructive dialogue regarding the prospects for future partnership between the UAE and NATO, and opportunities for practical cooperation in areas of common interest.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior officials and technical experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, along with representatives of relevant authorities from the government and private sectors.
