A 4.4 magnitude earthquake strikes northern Syria

The stations of the Syrian National Seismic Center recorded an earthquake at 12:10 after midnight, with a magnitude of 4.4, 86 kilometers northwest of the city of Aleppo, at a depth of 7.5 kilometers.

The center explained in a statement reported by the Syrian News Agency, SANA, that the tremor was felt by residents of areas in northern Syria, noting that it is considered a moderate tremor and follows the East Anatolian fault system.

In the same context, the Turkish Emergency and Disaster Administration (AFAD) reported that the earthquake was recorded in the Nordag region of the state of Gaziantep in southern Turkey, and its impact extended to be felt by residents of a number of states, including Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Osmaniye, and Hatay.
