"Purehealth" Launches a network "Sakina for children" To strengthen the mental health system
Abu Dhabi, June 16, 2017 – The PureHealth Group launched the “Sakina Children’s” network for inpatient and outpatient psychological care services, in a step that represents a strategic expansion of the “Sakina” Mental Health Network, with the aim of enhancing access to advanced and integrated psychological care services for children and adolescents up to the age of 18 years in various parts of Abu Dhabi.
The initiative adopts an integrated, child-centered care model that combines outpatient programs, early intervention, and specialized inpatient care, providing a comprehensive system of diagnostic and therapeutic services that include child and adolescent psychiatry, developmental pediatrics, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, behavioral interventions, and psychological support for families, through individual treatment paths that take into account the age stage, clinical condition, and family context of each child.
This comprehensive, family-centered approach is consistent with the “Year of the Family” in the country, emphasizing the importance of enhancing family well-being as the basic foundation for building a healthier and more interconnected society.
The network provides specialized internal mental health services for children and adolescents who need stabilization of their acute psychological conditions or intensive therapeutic support for those with neurodiversity, within units designed in accordance with the highest international standards for child safety and psychological well-being, with integration of psychological and behavioral treatment programs and family participation to ensure continuity of care from admission to discharge and follow-up.
The model of care is based on internationally recognized assessment frameworks and evidence-based practices, including the ADOS tool for comprehensive assessments of autism spectrum disorder, the WISC cognitive assessment test, and the Conners scales for assessing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), ensuring accurate diagnosis and developing personalized treatment plans in accordance with international best practices.
The network has the ability to support about 500 children per month through specialized treatment programs that focus on early detection and intervention during critical stages of psychological, behavioral and cognitive development, while providing services in Arabic, English, Hindi, Urdu and Malayalam to ensure they reach the various communities of Abu Dhabi.
“Sakina Children’s” facilities include occupational and speech therapy rooms, sensory and digital therapy spaces, specialized medical clinics, comprehensive play areas, and residential care units that provide psychological services around the clock as part of an integrated care continuum.
Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said that the Department gives children’s health a top priority, and works as a regulatory body and enabler of the sector to develop an integrated system concerned with their mental and physical health, stressing that supporting specific initiatives such as “Sakina for Children” contributes to providing specialized and comprehensive care within a safe environment that enhances prevention and early intervention and enables every child to grow and prosper.
