Responsibilities and obligations of students during the final exams for the current academic year

The guide to combating cheating and disruption of the examination system, issued by the Ministry of Education, stressed a wide range of responsibilities and duties that students must adhere to inside and outside the examination halls, ensuring the provision of a fair and impartial evaluation environment that reflects the true level of academic achievement, and maintains the credibility of the evaluation and examination system.

The guide, the details of which were reviewed by Emirates Today, confirmed that students’ commitment to sound academic behavior and scientific integrity is the basic foundation for the success of the examination process, indicating that examinations are not limited to measuring knowledge only, but rather represent a test of values, responsibility, discipline, and adherence to organizing regulations.

According to the guide, the student bears the responsibility of good academic preparation for exams through prior and regular preparation, and working to achieve the highest levels of benefit from programs and curricula, which is reflected in his performance during the final exams.

Through the guide, the Ministry also called on students to ensure adequate sleep before the test date, which helps raise levels of concentration and attention and improve mental performance while answering.

The details of the guide stressed the importance of students attending the exam halls on time, and fully adhering to the directives of the invigilators and organizing committees, while avoiding any behavior that may lead to disrupting the course of the exam or disrupting public order inside the halls.

She stressed the necessity of not discussing the content of the test material with colleagues before entering the examination hall or while they are in its vicinity, in order to maintain focus and discipline and prevent any practices that may raise suspicions or affect the integrity of the tests.

The guide explained that it is the student’s duty to maintain the confidentiality of the test questions and their content, and not to photograph, circulate, or share them by any means, whether during the exam or after its completion, as this is a serious violation that affects the integrity of the assessment.

Students are also prohibited from keeping any copies, photos, or notes related to the test or attempting to publish them via social media or various digital applications.

The guide stressed the need to strictly adhere to the instructions regarding the use of electronic devices inside exam halls, and to prevent the introduction of any unauthorized devices, including mobile phones, smart watches, headphones, tablets, or any other electronic media that can be used to communicate or store information.

It is also prohibited to use social media applications or any digital platforms during the exam period in any way.

Preventing fraud in all its forms
The guide stressed that the student is required to rely on his own abilities and academic knowledge while taking the test, and not to resort to any external assistance or unauthorized sources.

This includes prohibiting the illegal use of summaries, papers, books, digital content, or any other means that could provide answers or information that assist in taking the test.

It is also prohibited to exchange answers, cooperate with others, or provide or receive any kind of assistance inside the exam halls.

The instructions stressed the necessity of refraining from communication, gestures, or side conversations with the rest of the students during the test, as these practices are considered a clear violation of the rules of conduct and academic commitment, even if they are not proven to be directly related to cases of cheating.

Among the responsibilities emphasized in the guide also is to cooperate with examination committees and report any practices or violations that may affect the integrity of examinations or the soundness of their procedures, which contributes to protecting the rights of all students and achieving justice in evaluation.
