Norway wins over Iraq in "World Cup 2026"

BOSTON, 17 JUNE / WAM / The Norwegian national team began its campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by defeating its Iraqi counterpart, 4-1, in the match that was held today at Boston Stadium, within the ninth group competitions of the tournament currently being held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
Erling Haaland opened the scoring for the Norwegian team in the 29th minute, before Ayman Hussein equalized for the Iraqi team in the 39th minute.
Haaland succeeded in restoring the lead for his country by scoring the second goal in the 43rd minute, while Leo Ostegaard added the third goal in the 76th minute, and Christian Thorstedt scored the fourth goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
With this victory, the Norwegian team topped Group Nine, with 3 points, on goal difference from the French team, which opened its campaign by defeating Senegal with a score of (3-1).
