The World Cup story is complete… Cape Verdean goalkeeper Fosinha’s dream has come true with the arrival of his mother to America

The wonderful story of Cape Verdean goalkeeper Fozenha in the World Cup took another emotional turn today, Friday, when his mother arrived in Miami after obtaining an entry visa to the United States, allowing her to watch her son’s team’s match against Uruguay on Sunday.

Ana Candida Évora traveled from Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, after the US State Department granted her an entry visa following the touching statements made by Fusenha, which came after the surprising goalless draw achieved by the team participating for the first time in the tournament against Spain, in which the 40-year-old player was named the best player in the match.
Fosinha expressed his happiness that his mother will finally be able to watch him play in the World Cup in person, but he explained that he wants the focus to return to football, as Cape Verde is preparing for a match that may bring it closer to the knockout round.
Evora emerged from the arrivals hall at Miami International Airport at 3:53 p.m. local time, wearing a pink shirt, and smiling as she shook hands with crew members carrying FIFA accreditation badges.
Surrounded by FIFA staff and airport staff, she passed through a small group of waiting journalists before entering the elevator and continuing her journey to meet her son ahead of Sunday’s Group H match against Uruguay. “I want to send my wishes for good luck and a good match,” she told reporters.
It was not immediately clear whether she would begin the five-hour drive to Tampa, where her son is staying, before the game, or wait until Sunday to meet him. Fosinha’s brilliance against Spain turned the veteran goalkeeper into one of the tournament’s rising stars. Interest in him increased even more after the final whistle when Fosinha began crying, explaining that his grandparents, who raised him, had died and that his mother was unable to travel to the United States to watch the most important moment in his career. His comments went viral, leading to an outpouring of support.
