China launches a satellite for technology tests

Yesterday, China launched a new satellite dedicated to advanced technological tests and verification of the next generation of lunar communications services.
The satellite, which successfully reached its specified orbit, was launched aboard a modified version of a Long March-7 carrier rocket from the Wenchang satellite launch site in Hainan Province, southern China. The new satellite is mainly used for satellite communications services, television and radio broadcasting, and data transmission, in addition to conducting tests to verify the relevant technology. This launch represents the “653rd” mission of the “Long March” series of carrier rockets.
