Emirates Pharmaceuticals discusses with partners and customers the development of marketing approval services for medical devices and equipment

The Emirates Drug Corporation organized a Customer Council, virtually, with the participation of a number of partners and customers in the health sector, as part of its keenness to enhance communication with the authorities concerned with medical device and equipment registration services.
The Council reviewed the feature of appointing an additional agent within the marketing approval services, where it was introduced and the mechanism for using it, its requirements, and the steps necessary to activate it were explained, in a way that makes it easier for customers to understand and benefit from it.
This feature allows the holder of the marketing right to designate more than one pharmaceutical facility to import and distribute medical products, which contributes to diversifying supply channels, enhancing the flexibility of the health supply system, and reducing the risks of disruption to supply chains or interruption of the availability of medical products in the market.
This mechanism comes within the framework of implementing the provisions of Federal Decree Law No. (38) of 2024 regarding medical products, the pharmacy profession, and pharmaceutical facilities, in a way that consolidates the legal frameworks regulating marketing, import and distribution rights.
The council witnessed active participation from representatives of local manufacturers’ agents, medical warehouses, and marketing offices, who presented their views and suggestions regarding the implementation of the feature, and the extent to which the new updates are compatible with the operational needs and requirements of the health sector.
Participants also discussed ways to increase the efficiency of marketing approval services for medical devices and equipment, by simplifying requirements and clarifying application submission paths, which contributes to accelerating the completion of transactions and improving customer experience.
The Council’s convening comes within the Emirates Drug Corporation’s approach, which is based on enhancing transparency and involving stakeholders in developing policies and services, in line with the needs of the health sector and supporting the efficiency of regulatory work in the country.
