This was stated in the Federal Tax Authority’s annual report for the year 2025, which included a presentation of the operational achievements and results in all its work sectors and the legislative, procedural and technical tax developments witnessed last year within the Authority’s policies aimed at encouraging creativity and innovation, based on a clear understanding of the needs of all categories of customers and seeking to meet their aspirations, by accelerating digital transformation, to establish the foundations of a smart tax system, while continuing to enhance the efficiency of regulatory procedures to contribute to protecting markets and preserving justice. tax.
The report revealed that the total number of transactions completed through the Tax Registration Department recorded an increase of more than 20%, and reached about 1.7 million transactions, with the number of completed applications for corporate tax registration reaching more than 245 thousand applications, while the number of completed applications for registration for value-added tax reached 98 thousand applications during the year 2025, and 206 applications for registration for selective tax were completed.
He pointed out that with regard to tax refunds during the year 2025, the total number of VAT refund requests for tourists reached about 1.7 million refund requests, and the number of VAT refund requests for newly constructed citizens’ housing reached more than 7 thousand requests, in addition to 289 requests for retail stores to register in the electronic system for VAT refunds for tourists.
According to the report, the Federal Tax Authority achieved significant growth in its operations during the past year with an increase in the number of registration transactions, driven by the significant increase in the number of those registered for corporate tax, the continued increase of those registered for value-added tax and excise tax, and the expansion of the authority’s services, which reflected positively on the volume of completed transactions in all sectors of its work, while the authority strengthened its interaction with customers through its innovative digital channels.
The report included a review of the Authority’s achievements in the field of digital transformation, its intensified efforts to expand reliance on artificial intelligence technologies to bring about a qualitative shift in the efficiency of operational processes, the quality of services, the speed of completing transactions, and its various initiatives in this field.
The report explained that the continuous development of the Authority’s services and its constant endeavor to meet the aspirations of customers; It was reflected in the increased interaction through the various windows of tax knowledge support provided by the Authority. The total number of transactions received through all communication channels exceeded 625 thousand transactions during the past year, an increase of 12% compared to 2024, and the number of visitors to the support centers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai reached more than 21 thousand customers, an increase of 10% compared to the previous year, while the customer happiness rate across all communication channels reached 93%, an improvement of 1.5% compared to a year. 2024.
According to the report, the Authority continued to implement its supervisory plans in cooperation with the relevant authorities to protect the rights of consumers, combat tax evasion, and increase the level of tax compliance, as it carried out 175.5 thousand inspection field visits in local markets in all the emirates of the country in 2025, where 29.5 million packages of violating tobacco products that did not carry “digital tax stamps” and were not registered in the Authority’s electronic system were seized, and 7.6 million packages were seized. A violation of other “non-tobacco” selective goods includes soft drinks, energy drinks and sweetened beverages.
The report explained that the Authority continued to develop its campaigns and diversify its awareness channels to increase the number of beneficiaries of these campaigns in all the emirates of the country, and to reach groups concerned with the tax sector, as 210 various tax awareness workshops were implemented, of which the number of beneficiaries reached 122.7 thousand participants.
He pointed out that the Federal Tax Authority has strengthened its media appearance and digital spread to reach all segments of society, and to introduce the various growing tasks and services it provides, and its main projects and initiatives. Through an advanced digital system, the Authority broadcast more than 65 million text messages and via e-mail, and the number of visitors to the Authority’s website reached 2.6 million visitors, while the number of awareness publications during the year 2025 via social media sites reached 2,980 publications, and recorded The platforms grew significantly with the addition of 48,280 new followers, and the Authority issued 46 press releases to highlight its various events, activities and initiatives.
