The Brazilian national team defeats its Japanese counterpart and qualifies for the round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup

HOUSTON, June 29 / WAM / The Brazilian national team has qualified for the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently being held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico, after coming from behind to win against the Japanese national team, 2-1, in the match that was held today at Houston Stadium in the round of 32 competitions.

The Japanese national team opened the scoring through Kaisho Sano in the 29th minute, before Casemiro equalized for Brazil in the 56th minute.

Gabriel Martinelli snatched the winning goal for the Brazilian team in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

In the round of 16, Brazil will face the winner of the Côte d’Ivoire-Norway match.
