A wide cultural welcome to the Ruler of Sharjah’s honor for the theatrical season
Sharjah, 1st July / WAM / The Department of Culture in the Emirate of Sharjah and the Theatrical Association of the United Arab Emirates appreciated the generous gesture directed by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to support the new theatrical season in its nineteenth session, at a value amounting to 747 thousand dirhams.
This honor comes, for the season whose activities begin in October of the current year 2026, as an embodiment of His Highness’s wise vision and a dedication to the principle of sustainable cultural action in the emirate.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, Head of the Sharjah Department of Culture, confirmed that the theater and theatricians enjoy continuous financial and moral support from His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, with the aim of establishing an effective artistic base in Sharjah and the UAE in general.
His Excellency explained that this continuous support created a state of theatrical continuity through the giving of artists, creators, and participating teams, which constituted a strong motivation to improve the selection of texts and develop the skills of artistic personnel and actors, which was clearly demonstrated in the development of the Emirati theatrical movement and the crowning of local teams with awards and honors in several international festivals.
For his part, Ismail Abdullah, President of the Theatricians Association in the Emirates, expressed his deep thanks for the successive generosity of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and stressed the association’s keenness, through this support, to consolidate the role of theater in society and revitalize cultural life by presenting selected and distinguished performances, which contributes to creating a state of permanent and effective communication between theatrical works and the audience who are keen to follow and interact.
This year’s theatrical season will witness the participation of four distinct shows selected from Sharjah Theater Days in its final session in 2026.
The list of participating works includes the play “Hair Qarmousha” by the Sharjah National Theater Band, the play “Choosing the Title” by the Sharjah Folklore Arts and Theater Society, “Sharjah Modern Theater,” the play “Half Laila” by the Khor Fakkan Arts Theater, in addition to the play “Ghayeb Al Soul” by the Kalba Society for Folklore Arts and Theater.
