Nabil Fahmy assumes his duties as Secretary-General of the Arab League

Today, Nabil Fahmy assumed his duties as Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, during an official ceremony held at the General Secretariat’s headquarters in Cairo, in the presence of the Assistant Secretaries-General and a number of the General Secretariat’s officials and employees.

A statement issued by the General Secretariat explained that, following the handover ceremony, the Secretary-General received briefings from General Secretariat officials on the most prominent developments in the political files. He also held a meeting with the Assistant Secretaries-General to discuss the priorities of the next stage and the work methodology in the various sectors.

The statement added that the Secretary-General signed his first official correspondence addressed to the leaders of Arab countries, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the trust they placed in him.

He also signed letters addressed to Arab foreign ministers, which included an assessment of the Arab situation and proposals to enable the Arab League and the Arab countries to confront the current challenges, develop the joint Arab action system, and enhance economic and social construction efforts.
