Fosinia, the World Cup star, turned professional late and worked as a bus driver and electrician

Before the world knew him as “Fozinha”, the life of the Cape Verdean goalkeeper, whose real name is: Josimar Jose Evora Dias, was completely different. He worked as a bus driver and an electrician, until he became a professional football player at the age of 25. Although this age is considered too late for professionalism, Fozinha believes that hard work is capable of changing his life.
Despite his height of 189 cm, Fosinha was rejected by Cape Verdean clubs because he was considered short and small in size, but that did not prevent him from achieving his dream and playing professional football at the age of 25 years, with Batok Club being his first club, before he embarked on his professional journey and moved to Cape Verde’s most prestigious club, Sportivo Mendelense, in the 2011-2012 season.
In his professional journey, Fusenha moved between clubs in Zimbabwe, Moldova, Portugal, Cyprus, and Slovakia, before returning to Portugal.
In his career with clubs, he played 280 matches and conceded 299 goals, while keeping a clean sheet in 101 matches.
Fosinha played 92 matches with Cape Verde, during which he conceded 86 goals, while keeping the score clean in 37 matches.
His first match was against Cameroon in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers in 2012, and he kept a clean sheet in it.
On July 1, his contract with J.D. Chavez, a club competing in the Portuguese second division, ended, and he began the journey of searching for a new club, which will not be difficult after the impressive performance he presented in the World Cup, and the widespread fame he achieved by reaching 22.1 million followers on the Instagram platform.
