“He wins like the greats win.” What did the international media say about the Moroccan national team?

The international media highlighted the Moroccan national team’s continued writing of history in the World Cup, after the “Atlas Lions” succeeded for the second time in a row in reaching the quarter-finals, after defeating Canada 3-0, in a performance that the media described as “tactical maturity,” stressing that Morocco is no longer a “World Cup surprise,” but rather has become a team that “wins like the greats win.”
The Spanish newspaper “Marca” devoted a lot of space to talking about the Moroccan achievement, and chose a headline that said: “Morocco wins like the greats win,” in reference to the strong personality that the team showed, and its ability to deal with confidence and stability in the qualifying round matches.
In turn, the Spanish newspaper “Sport” focused on the importance of the Moroccan victory, after it titled its report with the phrase: “Morocco eliminates the first host country,” in reference to the victory over Canada by three clean goals.
As for the Spanish newspaper “AS”, it chose the title “Morocco has a prince”, in reference to the national team’s star Ibrahim Diaz, who continues to perform at distinguished levels with the “Atlas Lions”, confirming his status as one of the team’s most prominent stars in the tournament.
French newspapers warned their country of the upcoming confrontation against Morocco in the quarter-finals, stressing that the achievements of the “Atlas Lions” were no longer just an exception, but rather reflected tactical maturity and a strong personality in major matches. Foot Mercato newspaper wrote: “After winning three times over Canada, and Azzedine Ounahi excelled by scoring two goals and winning the Man of the Match award, the French team will face a competitor that has all the ingredients to cause concern before the quarter-finals.”
For its part, the French newspaper L’Equipe confirmed that the Moroccan team is no longer a “dark horse” or just a passing surprise, but rather has become a team with a strong personality and experience in managing major matches, confirming that what was achieved in the Qatar 2022 World Cup was not an exception, but rather the result of an ongoing football project.
The British newspaper “The Guardian” saw that the most prominent characteristic of the Moroccan national team is its success in combining defensive solidity and tactical discipline, which were established by former coach Walid Regragui, and the offensive boldness that appeared with current coach Mohamed Wehbe, which gave the team a balanced personality and greater ability to adapt to various match scenarios.
CNN also described the Moroccan victory as fully deserved, noting that the team imposed its character against the hosts thanks to the brilliance of Azzedine Ounahi, who scored the double, and Sofiane Rahimi, who concluded the hat-trick in stoppage time, stressing that Morocco continues to write history in the World Cup.
