US stock indices closed lower

NEW YORK, July 8, 2017 (WAM) – US stock indices closed trading lower on Tuesday, affected by widespread selling in the electronic chip sector, amid growing concerns among investors about the sustainability of the record rise in shares of artificial intelligence companies.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell by (34.07) points, or (0.45%), to close at (7503.36) points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index lost by (1.19%), to reach (25,811.10) points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by (140.30) points, or (0.26%), to end its trading at the level of 52,915.61 points.
