Al Ain bid farewell to its top scorer, Laba Kodjo, and is preparing to announce his successor

Al Ain Club officially announced the departure of its Togolese striker, Laba Kodjo, after the expiration of his contract, bringing the curtain down on one of the most successful offensive experiences in the team’s history, while Emirates Today learned that the club is preparing in the coming hours to announce the contract with the young Cameroonian striker, Baba Bello, to be its first attacking deal in preparation for the new season.

Al Ain Club has completed all contract procedures with Papa Bello, after reaching an agreement stipulating that the player will be associated with the club for a period of four seasons, provided that the official announcement of the deal will be made in the coming hours.

The contract with the Cameroonian striker comes as part of the club management’s plan to strengthen the front line with young players, as the 21-year-old player received early interest from Al Ain, which succeeded in closing the deal despite interest from more than one club in obtaining his services during the summer transfer period.

Baba Bello is expected to be a new offensive addition to the team, as he will join the Moroccan duo Sofiane Rahimi and his brother Houcine Rahimi, giving the technical staff greater options on the front line during the next season.

On the other hand, Al Ain turns the page on one of its most prominent stars in the last decade, after officially announcing the departure of Laba Kodjo, who left an exceptional mark in the “Al-Zaeem” shirt, and recorded his name in the club’s records as one of its greatest strikers.

Laba is Al Ain’s all-time top scorer in the ADNOC Professional League, having scored 142 goals, the highest tally for any player in the club’s history in the competition. He also ranks fourth on the league’s all-time top scorers list, behind Ali Mabkhout (228 goals), Sebastian Tigali (184 goals), and Fabio Lima (184 goals).

With the departure of the all-time top scorer, Al Ain opens a new page with promising Cameroonian striker Baba Bello, in a move that reflects the club’s move towards renewing the attacking line and maintaining its competitiveness locally and continentally during the next stage.
