Egypt bids farewell to the World Cup with a heroic performance… and Messi rises up and qualifies Argentina

The sports fans experienced a breathtaking World Cup night, which combined the bitterness of saying goodbye to an Arab team that gave everything on the field, and the extended excitement imposed by a football legend who refused to have his journey end early.

With a heroic performance that won the respect of the followers, the Egyptian team bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup, after a journey in which the “Pharaohs” confirmed that they did not come for a picnic, but rather to fight the adults.

Despite the harshness of the exit, the technical gains were strongly present, especially in the crystallization of the influential “scheming duos” on the field, where the harmony between goalkeeper Mustafa Schubert and midfield star Imam Ashour formed a safety valve and a main engine for the team’s system, heralding a generation that possesses an international character capable of a permanent presence in major forums.

On the other side of the excitement, the legend Lionel Messi refused to let the World Cup pass without leaving his usual mark, and “The Flea” rose up to lead his country to the next round with an exceptional performance that reminded everyone of the 2022 edition.

Messi did not only score and assist goals, but he was the leader and guide on the field, proving that the Argentine spirit is capable of rising from the ashes in decisive times, bringing “Tango” back into the spotlight as a candidate to be reckoned with.

The FIFA World Cup champions, Argentina, overcame a two-goal deficit to win a hard-fought victory, 3-2, over its Egyptian counterpart, yesterday evening, to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico. The Pharaohs took the lead with goals from Yasser Ibrahim and Mustafa Zico in the 15th and 67th minutes.

Between the two goals, VAR intervened to cancel a goal scored by Zico in the 58th minute due to a violation against his colleague Marwan Attia during the build-up of the attack.

But Lionel Messi, the star and captain of Argentina, rose up by saving his country’s national team in a fatal time, as he passed a cross that was met by Christian Romero with a header in the 79th minute, and Tango reduced the gap with the first goal.

In the 84th minute, Messi scored the goal himself with a powerful shot from inside the penalty area. The defending champion snatched the win and the qualification ticket with Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the 93rd minute with a header, after a wonderful cross from Lautaro Martinez.
