"Asics" A strategic partner of the Abu Dhabi Marathon, sponsored by ADNOC

ABU DHABI, 8 JULY / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Sports Council signed a strategic partnership with the international company “ASICS”, to be the official sportswear partner for the Abu Dhabi Marathon, sponsored by ADNOC.

The partnership was signed at the ASICS store at the Galleria Center on Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Director of International Events at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Excellency Ken Okaniwa, Ambassador of Japan to the UAE, His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Council, and Khalid Al Hosani, Acting Executive Vice President of Business Support. At ADNOC, and Siji Hori, General Manager of ASICS Arabia.

Asics will support the Abu Dhabi Marathon, sponsored by ADNOC, by providing official sportswear to participants, in addition to engaging an elite group of athletes and brand ambassadors, implementing community initiatives, interactive programs and marketing campaigns, in addition to organizing events accompanying race day, enhancing the visual identity of the event, and participating in the Marathon Village.

The two sides stressed that the partnership reflects a common future vision to enhance cooperation between the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and ASICS in a way that supports Abu Dhabi’s efforts to consolidate its position as one of the most prominent global destinations in the fields of sports, health and quality of life, by hosting and organizing pioneering sporting events that meet the aspirations of various segments of society.

The cooperation between the two parties is not limited to the Abu Dhabi Marathon sponsored by ADNOC, but extends to exploring new opportunities to launch future initiatives and programs in the fields of sports, health and community participation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with the Emirate’s vision of building a more active, healthy and sustainable society, and enhancing the quality of life of community members.

It is noteworthy that the Abu Dhabi Marathon, sponsored by ADNOC, has achieved rapid growth in the number of participants since its launch in 2018, attracting more than 10,000 runners in its first edition, then 16,000 participants in the second edition in 2019, while the third edition was held in 2021 after being postponed due to the “Covid-19” pandemic, and witnessed the participation of about 12,000 male and female runners in light of precautionary measures, then the number reached 20. One thousand in 2022, and it increased to about 25 thousand in 2023, reaching the sixth edition in 2024, which attracted 33 thousand participants representing more than 150 nationalities, while the seventh edition (2025) recorded participation of more than 37 thousand male and female runners.
