Why do artificial insemination results differ between couples?

Dr. Ashita Jain, a fertility specialist at the Birla Fertility and Artificial Insemination Center, explained that many couples hold themselves responsible for the failure of an artificial insemination cycle or intrauterine injection, believing that their bodies are unable to conceive.

But she stressed that the failure of the attempt does not necessarily mean that there is a permanent defect or that the body is unable to conceive. Rather, it often indicates that the treatment plan was not the most appropriate to the nature of the condition, which requires re-evaluating the causes and developing a more precise treatment protocol.

The fertility profile varies from one couple to another, which makes the chances of artificial insemination success vary from one case to another. Therefore, before starting treatment, the doctor relies on a comprehensive evaluation that helps determine the best treatment plan for each couple.

The most prominent medical factors that affect the success of artificial insemination are:

– Poor sperm quality or motility.
– Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
– Decreased ovarian reserve.
– Endometriosis.
– The age of the wife and the general health condition of the spouses.

Dr. Ashita points out that no single treatment protocol can be effective for everyone; This requires a comprehensive evaluation before starting treatment, which includes hormonal tests, semen analysis, and ultrasound examination of the uterus and ovaries, to enable doctors to design an accurate plan that suits the specific needs of the couple.
