An unprecedented outbreak of Ebola in Congo

The African Center for Disease Control and Prevention warned on Thursday that the Ebola outbreak in Congo is “the fastest spreading ever.”

The World Health Organization announced that the virus had claimed the lives of 600 people in this country, just three days after the number of deaths exceeded 500.

Updated figures issued by the World Health Organization showed that there have been 1,759 confirmed cases of infection in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since the outbreak was announced in mid-May, including 600 confirmed deaths.
