Democratic Congo: One thousand new cases of Ebola within (10) days

Today, the authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced that more than a thousand new cases of the Ebola virus have been recorded during the past ten days, bringing the total number of infections since the beginning of the outbreak to 3,075 cases, including 1,354 deaths.
About 90% of infections are concentrated in Ituri Prefecture in the northeast of the country, according to the World Health Organization, while efforts continue to develop vaccines and treatments for the currently spreading Bundibugyo strain, for which there is not yet a vaccine available.
The University of Oxford announced on Friday that the first volunteer was given an experimental vaccine against this strain, in conjunction with the development of other vaccines and treatments and entering the stages of clinical trials.
