Reliability and value are reshaping car purchasing decisions in the UAE

Recent data issued by the Dubizzle automotive platform revealed a clear shift in the priorities of car buyers in the UAE, with demand increasingly moving towards vehicles that provide long-term value, low operating costs, and high reliability, in an indicator that reflects growing consumer awareness and their move away from purchasing decisions based on brand or price alone.
The data, which was based on comparing search activity on the platform during June 2026 with the previous month, showed that criteria such as fuel efficiency, low maintenance costs, and resale value have become among the most prominent factors influencing purchasing decisions, which was reflected in the strong performance of Japanese cars, specifically (Toyota and Mitsubishi), in addition to the continued growth in demand for cars whose prices are less than 200 thousand dirhams.
According to the data, Japanese cars received more than 9.5 million views during June, while Toyota maintained the top spot among the brands most interested by users, recording more than 3.6 million views, in addition to the highest monthly growth rate among all manufacturers.
Indicators also showed continued growth in demand for multi-use cars, as the Toyota Corolla Cross recorded one of the highest monthly growth rates in buyers’ interest, while the Toyota Land Cruiser continued to maintain its position among the most sought-after models in the UAE market, in addition to the strong performance of the Mitsubishi Outlander, reflecting the growing demand for vehicles that combine practicality, reliability and economic value.
At the price segment level, cars priced at less than 100,000 dirhams recorded the highest levels of interest, with more than 16.5 million views, while the price category between 100,000 and 200,000 dirhams continued to achieve continuous growth, reflecting an increasing trend among consumers towards achieving the best value for their spending, in light of the increasing awareness of the total cost of ownership in the long term.
Sherif Magdy, sales director at Dubizzle Cars, said: “The data reflects a clear shift in buyers’ behavior, as purchasing decisions have become more dependent on criteria of value and economic sustainability, including reliability, operating costs, fuel efficiency, and the future value of the vehicle upon resale, which indicates an increasing maturity in the UAE market.”
He added: “These indicators confirm the growing role of digital data in reading car market trends in the UAE, and providing accurate indicators that help buyers, sellers and agents understand shifts in demand and make more informed decisions in a market that is witnessing continuous development.”
