The Crown Princess of Norway leaves the hospital after undergoing a lung transplant

The Royal Court in Norway announced today, Tuesday, that Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been discharged from the hospital, four weeks after undergoing a lung transplant.

The palace said that the condition of the Crown Princess (52 years old) is “good as expected in these circumstances.”

During the next six months, Marit is scheduled to undergo a rehabilitation process and close follow-up in anticipation of any possible complications, such as the body rejecting the organ or infection, according to what her doctors said.

The Royal Court said that Mette Marit will not perform any official duties during the rehabilitation process.

Her husband, Crown Prince Haakon, said he was relieved by the progress in her health condition.

Mette-Marit, who was diagnosed with incurable pulmonary fibrosis in 2018, received a donor lung last June shortly after being placed on a transplant waiting list.
