Including artificial intelligence in education within the Khalifa Educational Award

The General Secretariat of the Khalifa Award for Education, one of the institutions of the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation, announced the inclusion of the Innovation and Artificial Intelligence in Education category in the 20th session (2026-2027) of the award.
This field aims to shed light on the most prominent scientific and applied practices in artificial intelligence in the learning environment at various educational levels, in line with the national strategy for artificial intelligence in the UAE. The General Secretariat of the Award indicated that the 20th session includes 10 fields distributed into 18 categories covering various educational, applied and societal fields at the local, Arab and international levels, and confirmed the start of accepting applications for candidates in the new session starting from today until next December 31.
The Secretary-General of the Khalifa Educational Award, Hamid Al-Hooti, stressed the importance of this session, through which the award completes two decades of educational, academic and societal excellence, as a pioneering national initiative. Its journey began in 2007 carrying a comprehensive message of excellence in the educational field. During two decades, the award succeeded in creating a positive and humanitarian impact in the education sector with its various components and at all levels, which placed it at the forefront of specialized educational awards at the regional and global levels.
Al-Hooti said, in his speech during the launch of the 20th session of the award, yesterday: “Since its launch, the award has witnessed great interest from various prestigious international institutions, as it is one of the prominent national initiatives launched from the UAE to the world, carrying a message related to the quality of human life, and creating a positive impact on all individuals and societies.”
Al-Hooti explained that the 20th session includes areas that include: general education (the category of the creative teacher locally and in the Arab world, and the category of institutional educational performance), the field of education and community service (the category of institutions, the category of distinguished Emirati families), the people of determination (the category of individuals, the category of institutions and centers), the field of creativity in teaching the Arabic language (the category of the distinguished teacher, the category of the distinguished university professor locally and in the Arab world), the field of higher education (the category of the distinguished university professor), the field of educational research (the category of educational research), and the field of educational writing for children (the category Educational innovations, the children’s literature studies research category), and the field of educational projects and programs (individuals category, institutions category, students category, and innovation and artificial intelligence in education category) which are presented for the first time in this session, with the aim of highlighting the research and applied efforts and innovative educational solutions that contribute to developing the teaching and learning system through the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, in a way that enhances the quality of education, improves teaching and evaluation methods, improves learning outcomes, and raises the quality and excellence of performance in all educational institutions.
This category targets individuals, work teams, institutions, and students, in addition to educational artificial intelligence projects that have proven, through practical application over the last three years, their ability to create a sustainable educational impact in the learning environment.
He explained that the award has developed its website during the recent period in accordance with the best applied and technical practices, which make this website a distinguished platform for interaction with potential candidates, in terms of reducing time and effort in submitting applications electronically, as well as accuracy and transparency in dealing with them by the committees specialized in screening, judging and evaluation, until the announcement of the results scheduled for April 2027.
