Dubai Roads and Dubai Police launch a campaign to enhance traffic safety for truck drivers

The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, in cooperation with the Dubai Police General Headquarters, launched a traffic awareness campaign targeting truck drivers and owners of transport and shipping companies, and it will continue until the end of next August in a number of truck rest stops and main roads in the emirate.
The campaign aims to enhance awareness of traffic safety requirements, preserve lives and property, and raise the level of responsibility among drivers, in addition to emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance of trucks and ensuring the safety of tires and brakes before setting off.
The campaign includes organizing field awareness workshops and events, distributing publications and guidebooks explaining safety requirements and ways to avoid violations and accidents, in addition to disseminating awareness messages via electronic billboards in the streets of Dubai and social media platforms.
The activities include implementing questionnaires directed at truck drivers to learn about their observations and requirements, and producing awareness materials with the participation of influencers on social media, in a number of locations, including truck rest stops, Emirates Road, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
The campaign focuses on direct communication with drivers and educating them about the importance of adhering to safety requirements, most notably not stopping in the middle of the road, as this poses a direct danger to its users, while emphasizing the necessity of communicating with Dubai Police via the number 901 in non-emergency cases.
The campaign also encourages drivers to review the truck safety guide prepared by the authority in three languages, which includes information about preventive truck inspection, tire safety, brake efficiency, and mechanisms for dealing with emergency breakdowns.
The campaign also targets transport companies and truck owners, to emphasize their role in following up on regular vehicle maintenance, checking the validity of tires and the readiness of trucks before operating them, in addition to encouraging drivers to take sufficient rest periods and avoid continuous driving over long distances.
Joint inspection teams from the Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police continue to implement extensive seizure campaigns at the end of each month, to verify compliance with technical safety requirements, and monitor breakdowns and violations related to truck safety, which contributes to enhancing the security and safety of road users.
