Two deaths and power outages for 53,000 families due to storms in France

Two people died in central and eastern France, due to severe storms in several regions of the country, causing material losses and power outages.
The strong storms caused power outages to 53,000 families in France, according to Enedis, which operates the local electricity network.
The company said that the outages were mainly concentrated in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in the southeast and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in the southwest.
The current storms came after a severe heat wave in France that caused the deaths of hundreds and put enormous pressure on the energy sector. The heat wave also affected European countries, resulting in the death of 12,000 people in various countries of the continent.
But the rainstorms may represent a relief for the severe drought that France has suffered recently, which has put pressure on water reserves and required the authorities to impose major restrictions on water use.
