Trump holds Canada responsible for air pollution and threatens it with tariffs

US President Donald Trump said that he “holds Canada responsible for dirty, polluted, and unhealthy air sweeping into the United States.”
In a post on his social networking site, “Truth Social,” Trump described the situation as “completely unacceptable” and said: “We hold Canada responsible for its neglect in the proper maintenance of its forests and shrubs and bushes, which has led to the United States being swamped with polluted, dirty, unhealthy air, of dangerous and completely unacceptable quality! I will call the Prime Minister during the day to clarify what they intend to do about it. The cost is priceless! Canada has refused to engage in basic forest management and waste removal, despite its knowledge. “It is clear that this rejection will inevitably lead to this result.”
He added: “This is deliberate negligence, repeated annually, and costs the United States billions of dollars. This cost resulting from pollution must necessarily be added to the customs duties that Canada currently pays. Thank you for your interest in this matter.”
The Trump administration imposed tariffs on imports of some Canadian products, although the Supreme Court declared many of these duties unconstitutional.
