Mbappe snatches the record from Messi before the World Cup final

France captain Kylian Mbappé became the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup, after raising his tally to 22 goals, surpassing Argentine Lionel Messi, after scoring two goals against England during the third-place match for the 2026 World Cup.

The Real Madrid striker raised his tally in the current edition to 10 goals, making him also the top scorer in the tournament, after scoring two goals for France in the second half of the match, which ended with England winning 6-4.
