The 2026 World Cup champion receives a prize money worth $51 million
New Jersey (United States), July 19, 2017 (WAM): The team that wins the FIFA World Cup title, which will be determined following the final match that takes place tonight in the United States and brings together the teams of Spain and Argentina, will receive a financial prize worth $51 million, compared to $34 million for the second-place team.
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) had raised the total prize money for the 2026 World Cup, reaching a record $871 million, distributed among the 48 teams participating in this edition.
The prize money also includes more than $100 million, which was added last April in response to requests from some European federations for support to cover the costs of the tournament, which was held in three countries, to cover travel and accommodation expenses.
Each of the 48 participating teams will receive at least $12.5 million, including $10 million in prizes for qualifying and playing in the group stage, while each team will receive $2.5 million for training and expenses before the tournament.
England, the bronze medal winner, will receive $30 million, and France, the fourth-placed team, will receive $28 million. Each team that qualifies for the quarter-finals will receive $20 million, compared to $16 million for each team that qualifies for the round of 16, and $12 million for each team that qualifies for the round of 32.
