Emirates Cycling continues to shine in the Tour de France with the duo of Pogacar and Del Toro

Paris, July 19 / WAM / Slovenian Tade Pogacar strengthened his lead in the overall standings and retained the yellow jersey, after he led the Emirates-XRG cycling team yesterday to achieve first and second place in the fourteenth stage of the Tour de France, by winning the stage, while his Mexican teammate Isaac del Toro came in second place.

Pogacar raised his tally to 25 victories in the Tour de France stages during his career, including four victories in the current edition. He also achieved victory No. 125 in his professional career, confirming his superiority in the overall standings after expanding the gap with his closest pursuer, Danish Jonas Wengegaard from the “Visma-Les A Bike” team, to four and a half minutes.

Despite the attempts of the “CMA CGM” Decathlon and “Visma-Les A Bike” teams to pressure the race leader, Pogačar maintained his calm before launching a decisive attack 1.6 kilometers from the top of the final climb, taking the lead until the finish line, while Del Toro succeeded in returning to the group of chasers before clinching second place, giving the Emirates-XRG team a distinguished double in the stage.

Del Toro is less than a minute away from the top three in the overall standings.

Pogacar said that the fans who lined up on both sides of the road created an exceptional atmosphere, stressing that all the riders had a wonderful race that reflects the amount of mutual respect between them.

He added that Isaac del Toro was not at his best, so he preferred to wait until the last kilometers before launching his attack, noting that the strong rhythm imposed by Vingegard and the Decathlon team during the climb contributed to reducing the number of competitors, before he took advantage of his good knowledge of the stage to move towards victory.

Pogacar stressed that the stage was a main goal for the Emirates Cycling Team since the start of the race, pointing out that he has special memories in this region, which he described as one of the most beautiful places to practice cycling, expressing his happiness at achieving victory there again.
