Japanese stocks close mixed

TOKYO, July 22, 2017 – Japanese stocks closed trading on Wednesday mixed, as technology stocks rose ahead of the release of highly anticipated results, while rising oil prices and a decline in the yen negatively affected the market in general.
The broader Topix index rose 0.45 percent to close at 4,033.13 points, and the Nikkei 225 index rose by 2.05 percent before losing momentum during the afternoon session, closing down 0.18 percent at 66,115.60 points. While the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped 5.2 percent.
