Abu Dhabi Police warns drivers against leaving the vehicle running

The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate warned drivers of the dangers of leaving their vehicles running while shopping, fulfilling needs at shops, gas stations, automated teller machines (ATMs), or going out to pray, which could lead to them catching fire or being stolen by some lurking weak-minded people.

She pointed out that Article Five of Clause Four of the Traffic Rules stipulates: “He must refrain from parking the vehicle in places where parking is prohibited, and if he is forced to stop it on the road, he must take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of movement on the road. He must not leave the vehicle with its engine running and ensure that it does not move during his absence.” Article No. 70 of the Federal Traffic Law stipulates: “Failure of vehicle drivers to adhere to traffic signs and instructions,” a fine worth (500) AED.
