The GCC countries and Jordan condemn the escalation of Iranian attacks on their territories and call for immediate international action to stop them

The countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan expressed their condemnation of the continued aggressive Iranian attacks launched by its agents on their territories, affirming the unity of their position in confronting these attacks and their adherence to their legitimate right to self-defense in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

The GCC countries and Jordan confirmed in a joint statement that aggressive Iranian attacks on their lands, citizens, and civilian infrastructure have continued since February 28, 2026, despite the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran on June 17. These attacks have escalated in particular against the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and have included attacks on energy facilities, water desalination plants, ports, airports, and other civilian objects.

It stressed that these continued attacks constitute clear acts of aggression that violate the Charter of the United Nations, international law, international humanitarian law, Security Council Resolution No. 2817 (2026), and the explicit pledges made by Iran under the Memorandum of Understanding, and constitute a threat to international peace and security.

It also affirmed its inherent right to self-defense, individually or collectively, in accordance with Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, and to take all necessary legal measures to protect its sovereignty, territories, citizens, commercial ships, and vital infrastructure in the face of these ongoing attacks.

It welcomed the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq to confine arms to the state no later than September 30, 2026, expressing at the same time its support for the decisive and effective measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Iraq under its responsibility, to prevent factions, militias and armed groups loyal to Iran from launching their aggressive attacks on countries in the region.

It called on the United Nations Security Council to issue an urgent resolution demanding that the Iranian attacks stop immediately, recognize the right of the affected countries to self-defense, and exercise its legal authority to consider taking additional measures if these systematic, sinful attacks do not stop.

It praised the valor, professionalism, and high readiness of its armed forces in defending its sovereignty, security, stability, and the safety of civilians.

It renewed its commitment to freedom and safety of navigation in the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab and its readiness to work with countries in the region and the International Maritime Organization to reach permanent arrangements that enhance regional security and stability in accordance with international law.
