1001 deaths from Ebola in Africa

The death toll resulting from the Ebola outbreak in Africa exceeded 1,000, after the total deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda rose to 1,001 deaths. The Ministry of Health in the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced the recording of 2,473 confirmed infections, including 999 deaths, as of July 20, while Uganda confirmed the recording of 20 infections, including two deaths, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the two countries to 2,493 cases, since May 15, with 737 patients continuing to be treated or isolated, and 482 people recovering.

The World Health Organization announced the start of clinical trials on two treatments against the latest strain of the virus.
