We are continuing to build an agricultural system that will make the UAE a global model for development

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Cabinet, chaired the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, which discussed a number of strategic topics aimed at enhancing the sustainability of the agricultural sector and food security in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in line with the country’s trends towards sustainable development and innovation.
His Highness said in a blog post on the “X” platform: “Today, during the first meeting of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority with its new formation, we discussed the agricultural transformation strategy, and ways to employ artificial intelligence to enhance our agricultural production and the sustainability of our resources.”
His Highness added: “Food security is part of our national security, and we are continuing to build a more efficient agricultural system that keeps pace with the future and makes the UAE a global model for development.”
During the meeting, the Council reviewed the latest developments in the agricultural transformation strategy, and initiatives to employ artificial intelligence technologies to support the food security system and enhance smart agriculture applications, in addition to programs aimed at empowering farmers and raising the efficiency of using natural resources, which contributes to enhancing sustainable agricultural production and achieving the emirate’s goals for food security.
This meeting, which is the first of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority in its new formation, is headed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Cabinet, and membership of the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahhak Al-Shamsi, the Head of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, Mohammed Ali Al-Shurafa, the Head of the Department of Economic Development, Ahmed Jassim Al-Zaabi, and the Head of the Department of Energy, Dr. Abdullah Humaid. Al Jarwan, and the Secretary General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, Dr. Sheikha Salem Al Dhaheri, and in the presence of the Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri.
The Council affirmed the continuation of work to develop a more efficient and sustainable agricultural and food system, and to enhance innovation and partnership with various relevant parties, in a way that supports achieving Abu Dhabi’s vision of building an advanced agricultural sector and a flexible food system capable of keeping pace with the challenges of the future.
